I had to at least
get this Issue up and going...
Just got the
following eMail from Common Cause... and wanted to try to get as
much Recognition for them and about "Diebold" as possible.
Also, our "Voting
Process" is a very Under-Examined "Taken for Granted" part of Our
Democratic System. There is absolutely "No Doubt" that there is
Voter Fraud in just about All of Our Elections. The "Higher Up" the
Political Ladder you go... the more likely for Fraud. Even for those
Communities who are Vigilant and Responsible and Honest... there is
the Potential for Corruption... if only through the Means of
"Electronic Voter Calculations".
Just the fact that
"Diebold" has changed their Name is reason enough to be
Suspicious... as if the two Thefts by George W. Bush wasn't
enough??? Most likely, they will be changing their Name(s) many more
times in the Foreseeable Future.
Also, Citizens (and
Government) need to be looking at "The Voter Process" a lot more
Critically... and continually trying to make it more Efficient,
Accurate and Accountable. Voter Corruption just doesn't happen at
"The Voting Machines" and on Election Day. There are many ways to
Corrupt the Process... and hopefully, I can find the Time to do more
Investigating in this area... and give You more Grist to Chew on in
the near future! :)
eMail from Common Cause:
Remember Diebold? The voting machine company
whose CEO promised in 2003 to help Ohio "deliver
its electoral votes" for George W. Bush?
You may not have heard much about them since
they changed the name of their voting machine
business to "Premier Election Solutions" in
2007.
But they are making headlines again this month,
as Diebold is set to sell Premier to top
competitor Election Systems & Software (ES&S) --
creating a company that would produce
nearly three-quarters of our country's voting
machine systems.*
We have a big problem with that. And the Justice
Department should too.
Please join Common Cause in calling on
the Justice Department to investigate whether
the Diebold-ES&S deal violates antitrust
regulations.

We all know what can happen when voting machines
aren't secure. Studies have shown that too many
of our voting machines are highly hackable.**
This is clearly a market where we need
more innovation, not less. And there's
no better driver of innovation than competition.
In addition, both Diebold and ES&S have been
sharply criticized by election officials and
experts for misrepresenting the reliability of
their technology, and for increasing the costs
to service faulty machines.
The consolidation of voting systems technology
could also mean higher voting machine prices for
local governments, whose budgets have been hard
hit by the economic recession. Those increased
costs could be passed on to us, the taxpayers.
If you have doubts about whether this merger is
in the public interest, please join us in
calling on the Justice Department to
investigate.

Thanks for all you do to help make our elections
honest and secure.
